Selected for KPIPA's 2025 Sejong Books

<Researching a Posthuman World: Interviews with Digital Objects> by Catherine Adams and Terrie Lynn Thompson (translated into Korean by Kyungmee Lee and In-Chull Chang, published by PARKYOUNG Story) has been selected for the 2025 Sejong Books program (Academic Division), hosted by the Publication Industry Promotion Agency of Korea (KPIPA).In an era where artificial intelligence and digital technologies are deeply embedded in daily life, this book offers a heuristic methodology that invites objects to be active participants in research. Combining Actor-Network Theory (ANT) and post-phenomenology, it presents a conceptual toolbox for interacting with digital objects and exploring the intricate entanglements of human and non-human actors, encouraging readers to "say hello to the things closest to us."A total of 2,289 titles across 10 subfields were submitted for the 2025 Sejong Books Academic Division, with 353 titles ultimately selected following a rigorous evaluation process. Recognized in the social sciences category, the book is commended for looking beyond the functional potential of AI to provide a critical approach and alternative research horizons regarding the ethical and political relationships between humans and technology amid the digital transition. The selected books will be distributed to libraries, social welfare facilities, and public institutions nationwide to foster academic research and cultivate reading culture.

The WEAVERS Project in 2026: Building a Collaborative EdTech Ecosystem

2026 International Conference on Learning Sciences and Educational Innovation(ICOLSEI)에서 위버스 교사들은 ‘Teachers as Weavers: Building a Collaborative EdTech Ecosystem’을 발표했습니다. WEAVERS, whose name is derived from the word “weave,” is a qualitative research community operated as part of a collaborative initiative between Korea National University of Education and the Jeungpyeong RISE Project. The community was established in response to the limitations of top-down policy implementation, seeking instead to explore a bottom-up approach in which teachers select EdTech tools, design their own lessons, and conduct research on their classroom practices. Grounded in the theory of Networked Learning, participating teachers worked collaboratively with university researchers and EdTech companies to design and implement lessons and to conduct qualitative research rooted in classroom practice. Following the first workshop held last year, participating teachers attended the second WEAVERS workshop on March 28 this year. During the workshop, they shared their individual classroom contexts, the EdTech tools they planned to use, their research purposes, and research questions, while exchanging peer feedback and receiving consultation from faculty members involved in the project. Each teacher was subsequently matched with an EdTech company and selected a tool suited to their instructional and research goals. Graduate student researchers also participated in data collection in the teachers’ classrooms. Throughout the project period, the WEAVERS community held more than six biweekly Zoom meetings to share updates on the progress of each study and collaboratively review the data collected from the classroom. On June 27, the WEAVERS team presented “Teachers as Weavers: Building a Collaborative EdTech Ecosystem” at the 2026 International Conference on Learning Sciences and Educational Innovation (ICOLSEI), held at Seoul National University. Through this presentation, the team proposed that the conditions for sustainable EdTech implementation extend beyond the performance or functionality of individual technologies. Sustainable implementation requires teachers to develop the capacity to critically evaluate technologies within the specific contexts of their own classrooms, communities in which teachers can share such judgments and experiences with colleagues, and collaborative structures that enable EdTech companies and researchers to incorporate the realities of classroom practice and teachers’ voices from the early stages of design. Through this work, WEAVERS demonstrated the potential of a new collaborative model that positions teachers not simply as users of EdTech, but as active designers and researchers who connect technology with pedagogy, and research with classroom practice.
