WEAVE presents at 11th International Conference on GCED

WEAVE는 2026년 8월 26일부터 27일까지 서울 롯데호텔에서 열린 제11회 세계시민교육 국제회의(International Conference on Global Citizenship Education)에 참가했습니다. 이번 회의는 유네스코 아시아태평양국제이해교육원(APCEIU), 교육부, 외교부가 공동 주최했으며, 올해의 주제는 “분열되는 세계 속 세계시민교육: AI 시대 인간적 가치의 재중심화(Global Citizenship Education in a World Falling Apart: Re-centring Human Values in the Age of AI)”였습니다. 이경미 교수는 기조 세션 1인 “전쟁, 장벽, 그리고 알고리즘: 분열되는 세계를 돌아보다(Wars, Walls, and Algorithms: Taking Stock of a World Falling Apart)”에 네 명의 패널 중 한 명으로 초청 받아 참여했습니다. 세션에서 이경미 교수는 AI의 환경적 영향, 이를 뒷받침하는 인간 노동의 비용, 그리고 교사와 학생들이 충분히 숙고하고 성찰 할 수 있는 시간이 점차 줄어들고 있는 현실을 강조하며, AI를 둘러싼 물질적 현실에 주목할 필요성을 제기했습니다.

WEAVE participated in the 11th International Conference on Global Citizenship Education, which happened Aug. 26-27, 2026 at Lotte Hotel Seoul.  The conference was co-organized by UNESCO\'s APCEIU(Asia Pacific Centre of Education for International Understanding), the Ministry of Education and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. The theme this year was “Global Citizenship Education in a World Falling Apart: Re-centring Human Values in the Age of AI.” Professor Kyungmee Lee was invited as one of four panelists for Plenary Session 1: “Wars, Walls, and Algorithms: Taking Stock of a World Falling Apart.” She highlighted the material realities of AI, emphasizing its environmental footprint, human labor costs, and the shrinking space for teachers and students to slow down.
