서울대학교 교육연구소와 서울대학교 BK21 4단계 혁신과 공존의 교육연구사업단은 2026년 7월 9일부터 10일까지 서울대학교 사범대학 교육정보관에서 ‘제26회 교육연구국제학술대회(26th ICER)’를 개최하였습니다. 올해 학술대회는 서울대 교육학과 질적교육연구 전공의 이경미 교수님 연구실의 주도로 준비되었습니다.

이번 학술대회는 ‘Education Research for the ‘Post-’ World: Multiple Interpretations and Methodologies’를 주제로, 사회·기술·정치·생태적 전환 속에서 교육연구가 마주한 변화와 과제를 다각도로 논의하는 자리로 마련되었습니다. 참가자들은 포스트 시대 교육연구의 다양한 흐름을 살펴보고, 이론적 전통과 연구 영역을 연결하는 새로운 방법론적 가능성을 모색하였습니다.

캐나다, 독일, 일본, 미국 등 12개국의 연구자들이 참여했으며, 총 94편의 페이퍼 발표과 61편의 포스터 발표가 진행되었습니다. 기조강연에는 장경섭 서울대학교 교수, 곽덕주 서울대학교 교수, 사라 톨버트 모나시대학교 교수, 거트 비에스타 멜버른대학교 교수 등이 참여해 교육의 의미와 지식 생산, 불평등, 세계관 이후의 교육연구 방향에 관한 통찰을 공유하였습니다.

아울러 인공지능과 교육, 탈식민주의, 교육과정, 과학교육, 사교육, 교육 불평등 등 다양한 주제의 세션이 운영되어 국내외 교육연구자 간 활발한 학술 교류가 이루어졌습니다. 이번 학술대회는 한국 교육의 역사적·사회적 맥락에서 ‘포스트-’ 담론을 재해석하고, 보다 다원적이고 관계적인 교육연구 지형을 모색하는 계기가 되었습니다.

The Educational Research Institute at Seoul National University (SNU), in collaboration with the BK21 FOUR Education Research Project for Innovation and Coexistence, hosted the 26th International Conference on Education Research (26th ICER) from July 9 to 10, 2026, at the Educational Information Building of SNU’s College of Education. The conference was organized under the leadership of Professor Kyungmee Lee’s research group in the Qualitative Educational Research program of the Department of Education at SNU.

Held under the theme, “Education Research for the ‘Post-’ World: Multiple Interpretations and Methodologies,” the conference provided a forum for examining the changes and challenges confronting educational research amid social, technological, political, and ecological transformations. Participants explored diverse currents in post-era educational research and considered new methodological possibilities that connect different theoretical traditions and research fields.

Researchers from 12 countries, including Canada, Germany, Japan, and the United States, participated in the conference. The program featured 94 paper presentations and 61 poster presentations. Keynote speakers included Professor Kyung-Sup Chang and Professor Duck-Joo Kwak of Seoul National University, Professor Sara Tolbert of Monash University, and Professor Gert Biesta of the University of Melbourne. They shared insights into the meaning of education, knowledge production, inequality, and future directions for educational research beyond the age of the worldview.

In addition, sessions on a wide range of topics—including artificial intelligence and education, postcolonialism, curriculum, science education, private tutoring, and educational inequality—facilitated active scholarly exchange among education researchers from Korea and abroad. The conference offered a meaningful opportunity to reinterpret “post-” discourses within Korea’s historical and social context and to explore a more pluralistic and relational landscape for educational research.
